The idea of moral integrity is largely anecdotal and personal, and there is little psychology or ethics that motivates my decisions. I lack a system of belief, and I rely practically on knowledge (including what they've learned from very intense events and such) and methodology and feelings of motivation and fulfillment. My writing may appear structured, but it does not necessarily map out one to one my morals in terms of how they emerge in my behavior, decision-making, and such. But it does show how I perceive and attempt to make sense of and reconcile them.
In light of this, moral integrity is the attempt to be consistent amid the compartmentalizations that necessarily happen to reconcile contradictions.
As such, moral integrity is functionally performative and interpretative.
- Everyone experiences disparities between their ideals and actions
- Moral reasoning often follows rather than precedes action
- People generally construct post-hoc rationalizations for intuitive decisions
